Formed by brothers John and Trevor Jones, this prog rock band had three albums out on the Dawn label in the early 1970s. Always racked by internal tensions, there were various musician changes along the way. The most settled line up following the first album featured Jimmy Kaleth on keyboards, the electronic trumpet playing of Alan Bown, John Jones on guitar, Trevor Jones on bass and myself on drums. A successful touring band with good far east sales, the albums never really caught fire in Europe. Of late the band seem to have been reassessed as among the best of the prog rock crop, with various anthology and ‘best of’ releases available. The anti war track, simply titled Song features Jimmy’s trademark Mellotron, and comes from the album ‘Keeping Up’, whilst the drug inspired Waltz For Yesterday is from ‘Growing’.
Following the demise of Jonesy, Jimmy and myself formed the band ‘Gold’. Click here to buy Jonesy albums on Amazon.
